Spring my be the traditional time for falling in love - but in my opinion some young couples pick some very strange places to set up their love nests.
Take these two who I nearly trod on during yesterday's walk.
But even more risky is the home chosen by a pair of swans. If we walk through our village and down on to the canal and the Kingfisher Trail you come across these two who have made their nest on a little patch of ground in the middle of a housing estate.
The lady swan - on the right - is already sitting on her nest and her fella is keeping guard. I wisely kept my distance. Swans are beautiful but I wouldn't want to frighten them or make them cross.
The Lady Of The House tells me this couple have nested here for a few years now and local people keep their eye out for them to make sure they are left in peace.
Personally I prefer my home comforts at the end of a walk. I'm glad I don't have to live outside.

Winnie, I'd not want to live outside either.
Mum says the swans are lovely.
Winnie, the lady bugs and the swans are both lovely, but not as lovely as you.
xoxo, Winnie Cooper
Those ladybugs make a very cute couple!
Your pal, Pip
Ah, very cute. We love those ladybugs

Wow, those swans did pick a very public place! We have a pair or wrens that nest in our patio ceiling fan every year! This winter they actually stayed and lived there! I'd rather be inside on the couch...there ain't no couches outside!!
Oh, yes! I agree! I used to live outside, you know. And believe you me, it's not too terribly fun. Now, I just LUVS to go out and lay in the sun but I know that mom will let me back inside when I'm ready so I can go snuggle up in my bed.
Oh, and I think you're very wise to leaves those swans alone. They look dangerous to me.

Those swans are just lovely! But I've heard they can be very fierce when protecting their nests. Good you were wise enough to leave them be.
How nice that people look for, and care for the swans. Even if the swans have found a strange nesting place.
We love being inside, too.

It looks like a lovely day. And it does make me thankful that I have a warm home to live in.

Oh goodness, this reminds me of the time we came upon a Mama turkey with newborn turklets (baby turks? what the heck are they called?) - was she ever MAD!! We thought we were going to be attacked before we could get away!! You were wise to keep your distance, Winnie.
Hey Winnie!
Wow, what a cute post! Love the ladybugs and I'd give those swans room too...I hear they really can bite. No since taking any chances. We can admire them from afar. Great pix!

We agree, Winnie. There is a pair of geese who are nesting next to a pond where a herd of cattle drink. We're afraid the cows will step on the nest, but this is the third year they've nested there. Seems like they could find a safer spot.

Winnie - Thanks for sharing these lovely creatures! Mom loves the ladybugs, especially! When she sees one - she always goes "oooh, there's a ladybug!" And we agree, we only wanna be outside if our peeps are out there, too :)

Hi Winnie, We are trying to catch up, havent we had some great warm days, now its cold again, we hope that was not the summer.
We have loads of Ladybirds as well, so may be less greenfly this year.
You are wise to avoid the swan nest. There is nothing like returning to your own home and getting comfortable.
Winnie, thank you for the nice comment. We are looking forward to following you on your adventures. (Very glad you didn't trod on the ladybugs...or the swans.) :)
A beautiful post, we particularly love the ladybugs.
I love the lady bugs!
Nice to meet you! You have a nice blog Winnie~
Hi Winnie!
I like to play outside most of the day, but I have to come inside for my naps and when it gets dark. - Jill
I like to go for walks with my Dad on the harness, otherwise I would rather just look out of the window. - Jack
How lovely to meet you Winnie, you are one beautiful dog! It is a bit unusual for swans to nest where they have, isn't it?
