Everyone needs a hug - sometimes

I know that not all hounds like being hugged - and you need to respect their feelings. But I'm one of those hounds who LOVES a good hug.

So I was quite excited to find this lovely little company called HuggyHoundz and find out that as well as selling directly to the public they also also supply their lovely creations to charities and rescues across the UK and even abroad so that they can raise funds by selling the toys and gifts.

In case you wondered, I'm NOT on commission or getting a fee for promoting them - although they have very kindly added a link to my blog from their website - I just thought they were really great hounds to hug if you don't have a real flesh-and-blood hound like ME to hug.

I got lots of extra hugs round my big old shoulders last week when the Lady Of The House heard that a very special greyhound that lived near us had died at the age of 12. We know it's still very raw for his family - so we won't name them here. In a terrible twist of fate their cat had died just a few days earlier and that seemed to be the last straw for this brave old greyhound man who just sort of gave up. The two pets had lived together for ten years - and maybe he felt he needed to go and look after his cat pal. I'd like to think they are together somewhere -but my heart goes out to their family who I know miss them both very, very much.

I too am a hound that loves hugs. In fact I can't quite imagine why one wouldn't like hugs. Please send some extra hugs from me to the poor family who have just lost their two beloved pets.

We are so sorry to hear about the family who lost two pets in such a short amount of time. We cannot imagine. Hugs to them.

I caught a dog in the process of running to find her person (who was loading a car across the street) and was told by the person watching the dog (who came running up half a step behind him) to give him a hug, it makes him feel better. And it did seem to.

Poor family losing two! :(

I'm not a big hugger, unless it's mom or dad. I'd rather kiss them and put my paw in their face!

Oh, how heartbreaking, to lose two in such a shot time. That is so sad.

I'm very sorry for your friend's loss! How sad for his family!

*squeeeeeeee* Fifi was made for me! Oh, how I'd love to have her here!

That brings me to a question I wanted to ask you, Winnie. We saw a new product called Dicky Bags (dickybags.com) and I would love to get my paws on a pink one, but all their prices are listed in pounds. I'm good at a lot of things, but converting money isn't one of them. Do you happen to know what the conversion is? I know it changes all the time, but just a good idea would help. Also, have you ever seen these things? Would you happen to know if they're any good or not?

Thanks everyone for your kind comments. I shall pass on your good wishes to the family. They have gone away for a few days but I will see them next week and let them know they were in your thoughts.

Bunny, I've sent your mum an email. xx

Hi Winnie! We love hugs too, but only from people we love, not strangers, they get a grrrrr if they come too close. We're sorry to hear about your friend, we too have a human friend who lost her beloved dog last week, she came round for an hours hugging and said she felt a bit better but it will take time, as it will with your friends I'm sure. Have a good week Win, Dex and Lou xxx
