A grand day out at Crich

Yesterday the whole family and I went to Crich Tramway Village in Derbyshire - which is a great dog-friendly day out.

Dogs can even have a ride on the beautifully-restored trams which drive up and down the Victorian street they have recreated.

There are more trams in sheds having a rest. They take it in turns to come out for some exercise I think.

The main reason we went was because a few months ago the Lady Of The House was asked to record a voice-over for a new exhibition area. The George Stephenson Workshop Discovery Centre includes a section about the people who had the dirty job of sweeping up all the horse muck from the streets when trams and carts were all pulled by horses.

If you walk up to this model of a young girl who did this mucky job in London in Victorian times.....

.... it has a motion-activated sensor and starts playing a recording of this girl talking about her job...and it is the LOTH doing a Cockney accent! COR BLIMEY, MARY POPPINS!! And all that. She says her accent is a lot better than Dick Van Dyke's (whoever he is). The Man Of The House said he wouldn't have known it was her if he hadn't been told! As you may know, the LOTH enjoys performing with the Little Theatre Company so she LOVED doing this too.

Also at the tramway museum, away from the streets there are some lovely woodland walks you can enjoy. As you can see, me and the MOTH kept our heads down to make sure we didn't miss anything interesting on the ground.

But when you do look up the views across the Derbyshire countryside are wonderful.

There are some sculptures as you walk round too. I liked this goat one. I don't know why some people say I look like a goat. I don't look like this one.

A lot of the site used to be a quarry, and you can still see some of the quarry works.

I had a lovely time but I was very tired afterwards, and when they family enjoyed a pub lunch I just had a little zzzz under the table. (Notice how the MOTH makes sure I can't change my mind and go anywhere by keeping my lead firmly under his foot!)

This weekend we are taking part in the Saturday Pet Blog Hop hosted by Life With Dogs, Two Little Cavaliers and Confessions of the Plume.

If you'd like to join in and make new pet blogger friends, please follow your three hosts, add your blog to the Linky and copy and paste this week's new Linky code into the html editor of your own blog. The list will automatically update on everyone's blogs as new sites add themselves over this weekend and we can all hop from blog to blog and find out everybody's news.

Thanks again to our three hosts for putting on the hop!

If you follow a new blog after finding them in the blog hop - please let them know that you found them on the Saturday Pet Blog Hop.

Going on dog-friendly outings and then crashing afterwards is the best, isn't it? So cool that your mom was asked to do a voice over!

That sons like a lovely day Winnie, hough I don't know that I would care for being compared to a GOAT of all things! It is very neat that the LOTH got to do the vi over for the neat statue though. Very cool indeed. She is fancy!
