I love playing with my toys in the garden.
I especially like throwing them up in the air and catching them again. I am very good at it.
Sometimes my toys get to camp outside overnight.
They don't seem to mind.
This morning the Man Of The House let me out quite early - because he had got up to finish some work.
Imagine my delight when I found a new little furry toy outside!
I pounced on it, and threw it up in the air and was having a nice, quiet little game with it when the MOTH came outside to look at what I was doing.
He had looked out of the window and thought I might be preparing to dig a new hole under the pear tree.
He took my toy off me.
He said it wasn't a toy - it was a field mouse.
By this point it was a dead field mouse.
I am QUITE A BIT sorry, because I didn't really mean it.
I thought it was a toy, really I did.
The Lady Of The House said cats are supposed to be 'mousers', not greyhounds.
I did not like being compared to a cat.
But I did shout at one I saw on my walk later - to let him know that I'd made a good catch.
The LOTH said she didn't think I was fast and nimble enough to catch a little tiny mouse.
CHEEK!

Hi Y'all,
You tell the LOTH that greyhounds are faster and quicker than just about anything with 2 or 4 legs! You might not be able to follow a cat up a tree, but you could sure outrun him!
Y'all come by now,
Hawk aka BrownDog
Winnie, congratulations! You are now a true mighty huntress! Does the LOTH not know that we are fast -- much faster than a mere cat or mouse? Maybe next time you can catch bigger prey! I'm so excited for you, but sorry they stole your trophy!

Mee nose you wouldn't hurt anyting on purpose. Maybe it was dat kitty who did da deed and you were jus' trying to help poor wittle mousey!
Well I don't know whether to feel sorry for the poor little mouse or proud of you for being so fast and clever! Hearing that sometimes your toys get to camp out overnight made me laugh out loud over my morning coffee.
Heh, silly Winnie! Lola would be in heaven if she spied a field mouse in our yard, but she's a terrier after all.
Winnie, I think you might be a teeny weeny bit terrier! (And there can be no higher compliment than that).
Toodle pip!
Bertie (yet to catch his first mouse, grrrrrrh).
Good hunting, Winnie. We have some hunters and a huntress here too and we don't always make the Momster very happy:(
Have a good weekend.

What fun. We love the hole for your stuffie, BOL

Good job you didn't take the mouse inside.
Be careful leaving your toys out, as you can get lungworm. I've got a button on my blog and if you click on it you will see theinfo.
Thanks for the reminder Sue. The MOTH and the LOTH give me a regular spot-on treatment that protects against lungworm. In fact I'm due for my next one this weekend. But it's good that your site has that useful reminder for people.
Love and licks, Winnie
I bet you killed it faster than a cat though!
I'd imagine you are fast enough to catch just about anything you've a mind to, Winnie!
Hail the mighty huntress!
Nubbin wiggles,
Oskar
Hi there Winnie
You are a Boudicca of the canine world and too slow? NEVER!
Hector xx
PS: We thinks you would get on well with Lucy. She likes tossing frogs in the air and catching them!
Winnie! You are my heroine! Mom saw a rat run across the fence the other night. Would you come over and help me catch it if it comes back? Mom says we can't eat it though cause some peeps feed em poison. Butt if we catch it, Mom has promised mega special treats! :D
Waggin at ya,
Roo
That is really impressive Winnie! Way to go. I live that you are "QUITE A BIT" sorry. I wouldn't be. I'd be very proud.
Wow, you did better than Beryl, Winnie! On our walk the other day she quick as a flash picked up a mouse that I'd barely had time to see. In fact I wasn't sure what it was until I heard it's squeaks of outrage. She put it down again in some longish grass and it was still squeaking, so I think (hope) it just got a big scare. Yes, I think your people are probably very pleased you didn't bring your trophy inside:)
Uhtt oh. Some of our stuffies camp out occasionally too, and I'm sure it's easy to mistake a small furry critter for one. Zoe caught a baby bird once, and I was not pleased, but it happens.
