Now, the L O T H's mum tends to nod off in the evening while she's watching TV and she relies on her husband to wake her up around 11.30pm when it's time for bed (I know...I don't understand humans most of the time either...wake up to go to bed?).
Anyway, he always startles her awake her by calling her name even though she always tells him to wake her more gently by just stroking her arm.
So, last night she settles down to watch television with Mickey curled up in a chair. The next thing she knows there's a really soft stroking on her arm. She opens her eyes to see Mickey sitting on the settee beside her. He's pulled his claws in and is stroking her arm with his paw. She looked at the clock and it was 11.30pm.
Smart-Alec cat, eh? Next thing you know he'll be using the telephone........

I think it's pretty cool that Mickey is looking out for your grandma! Honestly, I don't know how humans survive without us pets. They just seem so hapless and vulnerable on their own!

Will do, Pip. Mickey's very sprightly still for 19 (so I hear). They don't actually let me near him because I can't stop chasing cats.....but I'll perhaps give him a call on the phone...show him I can do whatever he can do.
I just heard, on a brainscience podcast, that CATS DON'T CARE about anything but food. Well TAKE THAT, MR. SMART-PANTS SCIENTIST. Mickey stalks the planet. CARING about important matters like a human needing to be woken up to go to sleep. Even tho that may be incomprehensible to Mr. Mickey.
See, this is what I'm after: Understanding what cats care about. They can do that for us, right? RETURN THE FAVOR!!
Oh mai, that do make the furs on the back of mom's neck stand up. I dunno why. Of course us animals is more clever than hoomans give us credits fur.
