Stamp and deliver

That's really funny!! Ha hahahhhhaaa!!

You want  ME to help you sort out the foreign stamps in that pile?!

Oh.

You are serious.

Well, if it's for the Retired Greyhound Trust I'll give it a go.

No. I'm sorry. They all look alike to me.

You're on your own.

Seriously. Thanks to EVERYONE who has been collecting used stamps for us. And PLEASE don't feel sorry for the Lady Of The House. She really enjoyed sorting them out. (Personally I think she needs to get out more).

She kept showing me pretty ones from America and Australia where so many of our fellow pet bloggers live. She also found some nice UK ones she'd not seen before commemorating films and stage shows.

And when she found a very old one from when British stamps were one and half penny in OLD money she got VERY excited.

If you would like to collect stamps for the RGT yourself - or find out how they use them - take a look at this website page about the RGT Used Stamp Appeal.

Guinness is good for you

The Man Of The House and the Girl Of The House have gone to Dublin!

Apparently, this means they will be drinking something called Guinness (which according to an old advertising slogan "is good for you")

Something has obviously been good for a Japanese dog called Pusuke because he's now in the Guinness Book of Records for being the oldest living dog in the world. Is there a connection do you think?

Anyway, back to the Dublin holiday. This was a birthday/Father's Day present for the MOTH from us all.

I don't mind being here at home with the Lady and Boy Of The House - although the boy has three friends round tonight for a sleepover and I am hoping they keep the noise down as they are 'sleeping' downstairs in the room next to me and I need my beauty sleep.

In honour of the MOTH - and the fact that I will miss him - here's a picture of us having a bit of rest and recuperation from our busy lives before he left. (I don't think he's quite as relaxed about having his picture taken as me).

Bring him home - and a blog hop

I know there are a lot of brilliant charities and rescues competing for our people's hard-earned pennies and cents and Euros - and we all have causes close to our hearts.

So I will completely understand if you can't help.....but I can't get this fella's face out of my head.

This is Tundra, and he's at the Nowzad Dogs shelter in Afghanistan while this great charity tries to raise enough money to get him home to America to the soldier who's waiting for him.

Obviously Nowzad Dogs are raising funds to help reunite LOTS of dogs (and cats) with the soldiers who 'adopt' them while they are out on active service. And they also do a lot of good work to help support local people to look after their companion animals. But Tundra's sister's already been flown out, and now Tundra is waiting for the little donations in his "Chip In" fund to mount up.

He's been waiting a REALLY long time, and so I've joined with Nowzad supporters on Facebook to do what I can this weekend to highlight his case.

Just giving $1 online this weekend (63p in UK money at today's exchange rate) could make all the difference. If you can't donate - or you have other causes you already support - maybe you could just share his funding page on Facebook or Twitter or anything you might be doing online this weekend?

This is Tundra's page - http://wanner.chipin.com/tundra

Now look what you've done!

I have never liked the look (or sound) of that vacuum cleaner. I don't bark or run away - but I always 'eye it' very suspiciously as it sucks up my hairs and any bits of fluff from the carpets.

I knew it was an accident waiting to happen..... and now look what has happened! In the clumsy hands of the Lady Of The House it has started to eat my favourite blanket!
Watch out grey bunny - YOU COULD BE THE NEXT VICTIM!!!

Everyone needs a hug - sometimes

I know that not all hounds like being hugged - and you need to respect their feelings. But I'm one of those hounds who LOVES a good hug.

So I was quite excited to find this lovely little company called HuggyHoundz and find out that as well as selling directly to the public they also also supply their lovely creations to charities and rescues across the UK and even abroad so that they can raise funds by selling the toys and gifts.

In case you wondered, I'm NOT on commission or getting a fee for promoting them - although they have very kindly added a link to my blog from their website - I just thought they were really great hounds to hug if you don't have a real flesh-and-blood hound like ME to hug.

I got lots of extra hugs round my big old shoulders last week when the Lady Of The House heard that a very special greyhound that lived near us had died at the age of 12. We know it's still very raw for his family - so we won't name them here. In a terrible twist of fate their cat had died just a few days earlier and that seemed to be the last straw for this brave old greyhound man who just sort of gave up. The two pets had lived together for ten years - and maybe he felt he needed to go and look after his cat pal. I'd like to think they are together somewhere -but my heart goes out to their family who I know miss them both very, very much.

Weekend walkies

I do think we are lucky to live in walking distance of some lovely open countryside and fields.

It's just great to get out and about - especially on a sunny day like today - and walk in companionable silence with the Man Of The House, the Lady Of The House - or if I'm REALLY lucky - both of them.

Silence that is until I see a cat and feel the need to let it know I'm here with what I hope is a slightly deep and threatening 'WUFF'.

But there's no cats out here in the fields. But I still don't get to run free in case I get the scent or sight of a rabbit or a squirrel because I'd be off in hot pursuit and maybe follow it through a hedge on to the road and get hurt.

There are some roads close by here although you can't see them. I don't mind walking on my lead and I like being with my family so it's all good. I can always have a crazy zoomy run in the garden when I get home and then soak up a bit more sun for as long as someone will stay outside with me. When they go inside, I go inside too. Well, you have to keep an eye on them. Who knows what would happen to them if I wasn't there. I don't know how they ever coped before I came along.

Before I head off for another sunny snooze, I'd like to wish ALL my American followers a really happy 4th July weekend. I'm going to try and stop by the Luau and Pool Party in Honorooroo being hosted by The Fiesty Three.Maybe I'll see you there?

Today we are again taking part in the Saturday Pet Blogger Hop which is a great way to make new friends and discover new blogs.

The hop is hosted by Life With Dogs, Two Little Cavaliers and Confessions of the Plume.

Wimbledog

Wimbledon is so exciting - apparently.

Not sure if the LOTH enjoys the tennis or the cream tea the most.
